10.6 Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living
Resources (CCAMLR)



India chaired the XIX Annual meeting of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources held in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia from 23rd October to 3rd November 2000. The meeting was attended by 23 members including India and other invitees and observers. The Commission while deliberating upon the catch documentation scheme for tooth fish (Dissostichus sp.), adopted at the last year's meeting urged all contracting parties and non-contracting parties to implement the scheme as soon as possible. The Commission also took note and commended the success of the CCAMLR Krill Synoptic Survey in Area 48. The survey had been the largest operation ever mounted in support of CCAMLR activities and was a significant milestone in the work of the Scientific Committee of CCAMLR.

The CCAMLR-XIX was attended by Secretary, DOD as Chairman and Director, Sagar Sampada Cell as India's representative.
