The sanctioned strength of the Department of Ocean Development
increased to 246 during the year 1997-98, as per the detailed
break up given below.
Establishment of new offices for Integrated Coastal and Marine
Area Management at Chennai and the Ocean Observations and
Information Services at Hyderabad was approved. During the year,
10 scientific/technical and 9 non-technical posts were filled up.
