Environmental Impact Assessment Study

Baseline time series oceanographic data was continued to be collected in the CIOB using three deep seabed mooring systems. A study was initiated to assess the environmental impact of large scale deep sea bed mining activity with the assistance of the Russian Ministry of Natural resources. Benthic disturbance studies were also undertaken in a preselected seabed site with a specially designed mechanical disturber.Study reports pertaining to baseline EIA study and benthic disturbance activity were prepared and the same would serve as a reference documents in monitoring environmental impact of long-term mining at the site.
